Data is collected from a
representative sample of major grocery retailers and is protected by
confidentiality agreements. A validation procedure is utilized
to ensure that all input is processed in accordance with industry
guidelines and that the participating retailers' supply chains handle
competing product through the same internal process.
Participating retailers provide reimbursement data for product
covered by vendors with an adjustable rate reimbursement
policy. Reimbursement data is used by retailers in evaluating
the effectiveness of vendor ARP policies. Sample data
reflects retailer input regarding ARP reimbursement
amounts.
The current PCI sample represents 25%
to 30% of the domestic grocery supply chain. With the addition
of new retailer participants in late 2010, the sample size is
expected to grow to over 50% of the supply
chain.
All data is organized by SGC
category. SGC categories are based on similar supply chain
characteristics. 56 categories include data on 86 vendors, 250
category/vendor combinations, and over 1,000 major brands.
